Agnieszka Piotrowska: Mistification

A meeting with someone ill is a meeting with someone real, a person here and now, someone special and unique, radical in its individuality. The sick person as such does not exist and the sick are only to be found in statistical data or in textbooks. Before us there is always a specific individual being, capable of real existence, similar to ours. The installation consists of seven cirles: six different sixes circles, where the largest of them is about 86 cm in diameter, are suspended in space. At the circles is stretched transparent foil, and diplayed the video which presents an advanced system of computer simulation to study cardiology and interventional radiology in terms of invasive virtual studio.

Spotkanie z kimś chorym to spotkanie się z kimś realnym, czyli z człowiekiem tym oto tutaj, wyjątkowym i niepowtarzalnym, radykalnym w swej jednostkowości. Nie ma chorego w ogóle, istnieje on tylko w danych statystycznych i podręcznikach. Przed nami pojawia się zawsze konkretny byt indywidualny, zdolny do podobnego nam istnienia rzeczywistego.Instalacja zbudowana jest z siedmiu kół: szcześć kół różnej wielkości, gdzie największe z nich jest o średnicy 86 cm, jest zawieszonych w przestrzeni. Na koła jest naciągnięta transparentna folia, i wyświetlone wideo prezentujące zaawansowany system symulacji komputerowej do nauki kardiologii i radiologii interwencyjnej w warunkach wirtualnej pracowni inwazyjnej.

The installation consists of a five circles: four circle suspended in space with a diameter of 86cm, in which stretched material is transparent (for the three of them individually, one double, double circle is suspended as a second in order from the projector side). At the circle is displayed video that passing through it, creates a fifth wheel on the wall. The number of circles and a number of layers of material on a single object, refers to the distribution of limb ischemia by Fontaine. Circle shape is determines by characteristics of the angiogram. The video which presents angioplasty of the left iliac artery, displayed on a transparent screens, illustrates the penetration of fluid in the tissues, highlighting the multi-layered structure of the body and the complexity of the interaction. Final image refers to the vascular lumen.

Instalacja zbudowana jest z pięciu kół: cztery koła zawieszone w przestrzeni o średnicy 86cm, na które naciągnięty jest transparentny materiał (na trzech z nich pojedynczo, na jednym podwójnie; koło naciągnięte podwójnie zawieszone jest jako drugie w kolejności od strony projektora). Na koła wyświetlane jest wideo, które przechodząc przez nie, tworzy piąte koło na ścianie. Liczba kół oraz ilość warstw materiału na pojedynczym obiekcie, odnosi się do podziału niedokrwienia kończyn dolnych według Fontaine’a. Format koła determinuje charakterystyka badania angiograficznego. Wideo przedstawiające angioplastykę lewej tętnicy biodrowe, wyświetlane na transparentnej tkaninie, obrazuje przenikanie płynów w tkankach, podkreślając wielowarstwową budowę organizmu i złożoność interakcji. Obraz końcowy nawiązuje do światła naczyń.
